Located on Morotai, the most north easterly of the Spice Islands in the Maluku Archipelago in Indonesia the Moro Ma Doto Resort proposes architect-designed thatched private villas nestling amongst the trees on the gentle slopes facing the blue waters of the ocean. The two Igo Tents resemble a camping tent built with bamboo and special tarpaulin for a great sensation in a completely different experience. The restaurant offers an authentic farm-to-table dining experience, using ingredients from local farmers and fishermen and organic home grown ingredients. The resort has been thoughtfully designed with minimal environmental impact and existing trees are seamlessly integrated into the decks. The Jungle Rock Spa is a hidden sanctuary incorporating natural and herbal materials ensuring a holistic and sustainable experience. The wood-fired sauna and Jacuzzi are heated using firewood, a low-impact and energy efficient method that blends perfectly with the natural surroundings. Best Eco-Friendly: The resort is dedicated to creating a sustainable environment using locally sourced timber carefully selected from the forests, transforming organic waste into compost, reducing plastic with rice sacks as laundry bags and banana leaves in rubbish bins. The resort also places a strong emphasis on community involvement, actively hiring from local villages and supporting training initiatives.
