The Shipwreck Lodge is situated on the southern bank of the Huarusib River Mouth, nestled between the dunes with a view of the Atlantic Ocean in the famous Skeleton Coast Park in North Western Namibia. Guests will be picked up at the Möwe Bay airstrip in a closed game drive vehicle for a 45 km ride on gravel roads. The lodge offers 8 rooms and 2 family cabins all ensuite and solar-powered. Each room has a shower, toilet, washbasin, and a wood-burning stove. Clients can look forward to appreciating the harsh beauty of the desert, solitary landscapes with plenty of geological history. The hotel’s restaurant has a comfortable deck to view the ocean with cocktails served on the Sundowner deck. Delicious meals are served in the restaurant and afternoon tea and homemade cake are an extra delight. A full range of activities is organized by the lodge including excursions on the Huarusib River and discovery of the seal colony of Möwe Bay. Best Eco- Friendly: steeped in history, the Skeleton Coast is known as one of the most inhospitable places in the world. Constructed in the image of a shipwreck, the lodge reminds guests of the multitude of ships and other life that the sea and the desert have claimed. Expert guides will take guests to the impressive dunes to learn about the unique adaptations of the animals and plants that survive in this harsh environment.
